Mountain biking in the Dolomites

Cycling on the rocks!

From challenging single trails through the forest and fun freeride paths, all the way to obstacle-free road bike routes and wild Dolomite canyons – family tourers, bike newbies or hardened racing cyclists will revel in the “All-Mountain” atmosphere of Obereggen!

Numerous bike trails, forest ways and hiking trails open up the Eggental valley and the surrounding areas. Mountain bikers are spoilt for choice! Routes range from “easy” trips in the lower Eisack and Etsch valleys right up to stamina tests on the Niger, Karer and Lavazè mountain passes, which all call for super-fit calf muscles! The crown jewels of the trails in the Eggental valley are the Latemar Ronda and the Giro d’Italia stage – a must for experts, as is the tour of the Sella, Gröden, Pordoi and Campolongo passes. On the breathtaking Latemar Ronda, meanwhile, you can experience the whole Latemar massif, the rocky king of Obereggen, on a 34-km round tour. The best option is to tackle this route together with a biking guide, who will not only take care of all the planning, but also provide you with a wealth of useful tips.

Another Obereggen plus point? The Ochsenweide cable car also runs in summer! That means that you don’t have to pedal all the way up before you zoom back down again. Bike shuttle services in the local area can also take you to your starting point: After all, protecting the environment and resources is a fundamental part of cycling philosophy!

Bike rentals <LINK> in the local area can provide you with all you need if you don’t have your own gear. And some valuable safety tips when mountain biking in the Dolomites can be found here.

The Latemar Ronda

The bike classic in the Dolomites!

It is the one and only among the bike tours in the Eggental valley and the Dolomites: the Latemar Ronda! Cycle once around the imposing rock massif of the Latemar. Experience the Dolomite mountain from all sides! What sounds like an undertaking that only the most indefatigable biking experts should dare is actually an adventure that even families with children can experience. Because this tour can be approached in two ways!

ATTENTION: the Latemar Ronda with lifts is only open from mid-June to mid-September!
