Snowshoe excursions in Obereggen

Walking over the snow

Wild funkelnde Schneefelder und aufgespannte Schneehänge. Rein in

Wildly sparkling snow fields, extensive snow slopes. Get out into the unspoilt natural surroundings! Strap on light snowshoes over stout walking boots and set off along winter trails or simply across the glistening snow!

Freshness and quiet as you crunch through the snow

What has become a winter must-do in recent years is, in the Alps as in the Arctic, based upon a long tradition - hiking with snowshoes, “ciaspole” in Italian. The large supporting surface for the feet distributes your weight over the snow – long gone are the days of wading through the snow up to your knees. Today it’s all about the “ciaspolata”!

Stay safe – be informed

Winter hiking trails are peaceful places, but bear in mind that this is the great outdoors in all its beauty - and all its sometimes unpredictable power. For longer Alpine tours into the wild winter scenery, good planning and accurate information about the landscape, weather and avalanche conditions are all essential “do-it-yourself” items for winter walkers.

Two tips for tours

Round trip from the Epircher Laner Alm – a gentle 3-hour walk

Take path no. 11 from Obereggen towards the Grosswiesen, then follow path no. 10 towards the Durabühel and go along the forest trail to the Epircher-Laner Alm. Take the toboggan run back to Obereggen.

To the Häusler Sam – a super-easy 2-hour walk: from the upper car park in Obereggen take the trail to the Bewallerhof and then path no. 9, the Templweg, to the Häusler Sam. The hut is open at weekends.
