10 reasons to stay at Obereggen ski resort
Must ski! The top tips
Every ski resort has its merits. This can often make it difficult to choose one! It helps to see all the highlights together, preferably in a list! All that Obereggen has to offer – and why it is set to be THE ski resort to go to:
1. The range of pistes
There's never a dull moment with 48 kilometres of piste to play on! Blue, red, black pistes, a Snowpark, Nightpark, sledge runs – and the chance to convert 48 kilometres of piste into 110, 390 or even 1,200. Any questions!?
2. Awarding-winning pistes
The pistes at Obereggen have won awards again and again for their impeccable condition: perfectly groomed, day after day they glitter in the sunlight – which Obereggen can boast plenty of!
3. Fun in the snow in the park
The Snowpark at Obereggen is, according to skiresort.de, the best in Italy! And can provide plenty of fun – three times a week, you can go freestyling at night as well, when the Snowpark becomes a Nightpark!
4. Bring on the bright lights!
At night, when the natural world of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site is gaining some beauty sleep, things are still going strong at Obereggen! The pistes are invaded three times a week from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm beneath floodlights and a starry sky!
5. Kids are always welcome!
Of course, Obereggen is great for little ski aces, too! For trying it out, learning and having fun in the snow, there's 'Brunoland' children's park, Mini Club daycare centre and Kids Snowpark!
6. Skiing - a learning process!
This is why Obereggen can boast one of the best ski schools in Italy: Obereggen Ski and Snowboard School, featuring lots of ski instructors for large and small ski aces in the making.
This is the soundtrack to the toboggan run at Obereggen: there are two parts to it, by the way, one running 2.5 km down the slopes of the Latemar, the other 750 metres long.
8. Bon appetit and cheers!
What would a ski resort be without ski huts? That's right – a very half-baked affair indeed. In Obereggen, there are 12 ski huts to cater for hungry and thirsty skiers, serving traditional South Tyrolean fare, with a pinch of Mediterranean nonchalance. Add a fitting portion of style – and admire the impressive architecture of Oberholz ski hut!
9. Rent & service area
Always carting your skis about with you? Not in Obereggen, where there's a state-of-the-art ski depot featuring heated lockers at the valley cable car station. Or you can simply hire your gear at Obereggen Rent & Service Area as well.
10. Last but not least
The icing on the cake for Obereggen fans: the ski resort in the Dolomites may be reached in a jiffy! Just 20 minutes separate it from the province capital of Bolzano and the Bolzano Nord motorway exit.
There's still a number 11 to come! All of the Obereggen area is heated by a district heating plant <LINK: Umwelt>, saving 500,000 litres of oil fuel a year – plus the need to transport it. Enjoying winter in Obereggen means enjoying an environmentally-friendly one, too!
