The Val d’Ega, ideal for skiing and hiking
All-round nature holidays in the Dolomites
The Val d’Ega runs up from Bolzano towards the Dolomite massifs of the Catinaccio and Latemar and to the source of the stream that carved out the valley, surrounded by rugged rock formations, lush meadows and steep mountain slopes. With its 530 kilometres of hiking trails and two ski areas, the valley is a place for visitors to relax and enjoy!
Hiking pleasures or fun in the snow
In both summer and winter the Val d’Ega is a place to chill out in close proximity to nature. Whether you are looking for a sporting challenge, a gentle stroll or a culinary treat, there are numerous mountain huts and ski huts, as well as many kilometres of hiking trails and perfectly groomed pistes! Whether you are in the outstanding hiking and skiing area of Obereggen, or in the hiking and family ski area of Carezza, in the villages of Nova Ponente or Nova Levante, Monte San Pietro or at Lake Carezza: the Val d’Ega promises you adventures in the Dolomites that will long remain in the memory!
Something to see everywhere you look!
From the provincial capital Bolzano it is about 20 minutes by car up the winding road; soon however the giant Dolomites come into view, magnificently rising into the sky at the end of the valley. It is not just the Catinaccio and Latemar massifs that are worth seeing in the Val d’Ega: there are many more natural and cultural wonders, such as the fairytale Lake Carezza, the Collepietra earth pyramids, the South Tyrol Planetarium, the Bletterbach Gorge, the Val d’Ega “mountain cinema”, the pilgrimage church of Maria Pietralba - and much more besides. The Val d’Ega in the ski and hiking area of Obereggen will slake your thirst for both adventure and nature!
